SUB-HUMAN CONDITIONS ON NYC SUBWAY SYSTEM
New York, NY-- May 12, 2000 -- Are you one of the millions who travel the New York City subway system on a daily basis? If you are, you know the less than desirable conditions that strap-hangers have to endure.

Producers Marya Triandafellos and Pat Lewis have gone down into the New York City subway system to tape the horrific conditions and talk with riders. Most riders complained about filthy platforms and subway cars, overcrowding, inaudible public address systems and a lack of security. "Everyone just wants a clean and efficient transportation system," says Triandafellos. "People are tired of getting hit with fare increases every year and not seeing improvements." "The MTA takes in millions of dollars a week in passenger fares, but doesn't seem to be spending it wisely on improvements that would benefit the passengers. We want the MTA to be held accountable for this revenue. They should be embarrassed about the state of the subway system." Lewis remarks.

The documentary, "Sub-Human,"  aired on MNN's (Manhattan Neighborhood Network) Channel 34 in Manhattan on May 4th @ 11pm. Triandafellos and Lewis plan on sending copies of the documentary to city officials and MTA executives in an attempt to get some action going on subway improvements. "We'll not going to let up on them, and what we ready want to see is a Subway Riders Bill of Rights like cab riders have," remarks Triandafellos.
