The Perfect Man

Mark Rosman

Hilary Duff, Heather Locklear, Aria Wallace, Chris Noth, Caroline Rhea

Rating: (1 to 5 stars)

MPAA Rating:   PG for some mildly suggestive content.

Review:

Okay, I admit it, last week I was probably wrong. My prediction that “Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3D” will win the Razzie® award for worst picture may still come true--it WAS that bad, but this thing here might be even worse. WAAAAAAAA!

Teenager Holly Hamilton (Hilary Duff) lives with her mom Jean (Heather Locklear) and her insufferably cute baby sister Zoé in Wichita, Kansas. Mom discovers that her latest boyfriend has been sleeping around, so she packs up the kids and moves to Brooklyn where they, for the 85th time-start afresh.

Sick of moving around so much, Holly decides to create a fictional lover for Mom in order to keep her in one place at least one semester. This is what is known as “idiot plotting.” Everyone has to act like an idiot for the whole thing to work.

But of course, Holly's best friend's(Vanessa Lengies) uncle Ben (Chris Noth) is NOT an idio, and neither is Holly's beau Adam (Ben Feldman), so the whole thing comes crashing down in a heap well before this junior chick flick is half over. I cringed, put my notebook over my face and hid from this monstrosity of a film.

I do that sort of thing from time to time.

The acting is fine. Locklear has done much, much better stuff than this, and I don't really know why she's here. I mean I can see why Duff did, she's got a contract or something and she isn't old enough to appear in slasher flicks like she should have by this time,

Noth should be ashamed of himself.

This is unwatchable. Stay away.
