Review:
Every
now and then, you get a feature-length version of a TV skit. Jamie
Kennedy’s negro wannabee B-Rad Gluckman has been seen somewhere.
I’m not sure, but I’ve been told that the Marshall Mathers parody
is pretty funny.
It’s not here.
B-Rads father (Ryan O'Neal) is an über-rich business man who’s
running for the US Senate, and as our hero is soooooo
embarrassing, he tells his top aide Tom Gibbons(Blair Underwood)
to do something about it. What he does is to hire two actors,
Sean(Taye Diggs) andPJ(Anthony Anderson) to take B-rad to the
ghetto and "scare him white," and with the help of pal
Shondra(Regina Hall) that’s what they attempt.
It’s all very predictable. The wince to giggle factor isn’t
that good. Most of the jokes are racist and lame. Winces
predominate.
This doesn’t mean that Kennedy isn’t a bad actor, it’s just
that his first cinematic effort will not be appreciated by those
of the Caucasian persuasion. Much of the film is in ebonics.
