Hart begins the process of creating a sculpture cast in clear acrylic resin, or Lucite, the same way that he would begin a work in bronze or stone: by sculpting it in clay, often working from a live model. The conceptual phase takes many months. The artist works through ideas with numerous clay sketches before he proceeds to create a full-size model in clay.
